The Institute of Engineering started as a Department offering the B. S. in Agricultural Engineering curriculum in 1967. When the Tarlac College of Technology – College of Agriculture was converted into Tarlac College of Agriculture in 1974, the Department was elevated into an Institute.

The Institute of Engineering that used to offer BS in Agricultural Engineering degree only expanded in 1987 when it offered General Engineering Course leading to the other BS Engineering courses and the Associate in Geodetic Engineering and the BS Geodetic Engineering major in Soil and Water Management and Farm Machinery. The latest addition of the curricular offerings of the Institute is the BS in Information Technology (2004), the Certificate in Office Management (2005), and the Certificate in Computer Hardware Technician (2005)
